‘Bridgnorth’s got talent’ celebration

A ‘Bridgnorth’s Got Talent’ event, to celebrate the “amazing” creativity of people of the town and district, is to be held next spring.

People of all ages will be encouraged to showcase their skills on March 26. The event is the brainchild of mayor Councillor Val Gill, who is drawing up the plans with a small team.

“The primary aim is to bring the community together in celebration and it will also be an opportunity to raise further funds for the mayor’s charities,” she explained.

“A number of venues around the town will be used throughout the day to accommodate displays of visual artistic talent of various kinds, including photography, painting and drawing, sculpture and model-making, flower arranging and quilting and there will also be a number of musical events during the day.

“There will also be opportunities to enjoy the products of people’s culinary skills in the refreshments available at each venue. People will also be given the chance to share poetry and other creative writing.

“While it will be difficult on the day to have live displays of sporting skills, someone with the necessary videoing skills might volunteer his or her services to show footage of some of the sporting members of our community in action.

“The day will culminate with a grand concert in the Castle Hall in the evening.

“I am aiming to involve people of all ages and am approaching schools and other groups in order to encourage participation. I am keen to hear from anyone who would like to be involved in any way.

“This will be a great community event and I am sure that there is a lot of amazing talent in Bridgnorth which we can see.”

Anyone who is interested in being involved is invited to visit the town council offices at College House in St Leonard’s Close and pick up a form to outline their

talents or give details of a group to which they belong.
