SHROPSHIRE Donkey Rescue in Billingsley is asking for supporters to name the latest edition – an 11-week-old orphan foal. The foal came from a farm in Wales after his mother suddenly died.
Founder Amanda Ball said: “Orphan foals are very difficult to look after, so we could understand why his owner asked us for help when the poor little thing’s mother died.
“He was very nervous and had not been handled much at all, we had to force feed him for a couple of days to get him to drink his milk, but now he comes running over and drinks his milk straight from the jug.”
Anyone wishing to meet the foal can visit the centre during the open days on August Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday, from 11am until 3pm.
As well as meeting the new addition there will be a bouncy castle, stalls, games and donkey rides.
The winner of the name a foal competition will be announced on the Bank Holiday Monday and published on the centre’s website www.shropshiredonkeyrescue.co.uk
“We are asking for a donation of £2 per name suggestion and all entrants will be entered into a prize draw,” added Amanda. “We are hoping someone will come up with a name that suits him.
“To help people think of ideas he is white, a boy and is from Wales. He is also very cheeky and playful!”
Any name suggestions can be sent to Shropshire Donkey Rescue, Brickyard Farm, Billingsley, Bridgnorth, WV16 6PH, or call 07975516219.
