Police warning over burglaries

BRIDGNORTH residents are being urged to be vigilant after a spate of seven burglaries in the town in a fortnight.

Police said all the burglaries were carried out on homes in the Tasley area and to the north of the town centre, along with some commercial properties in and around the Bandon Arms area.

The unusually high number has prompted police to ask members of the public to report any suspicious activities they see.

Sergeant Bob Matthews, of Bridgnorth Police Station, said: “We obviously have some people active in the town and we would ask anyone in the community who sees something or someone suspicious to contact us.”

High value items taken during the burglaries have included mobile phones, lap-tops, jewellery and cash.

Sergeant Matthews said: “We would also ask anyone who has been offered property for sale that they don’t think is legitimate to contact us.

“Sometimes people are worried that what they have seen doesn’t matter or that we will be too busy to respond, but that is not the case.

“Any information we receive may lead us to an arrest.

“People who do not want to contact us directly at the Bridgnorth station should call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
