THREE main Bridgnorth roads will be partially closed over a three month period beginning early next month while major works are completed.
New loading and disabled bays will be installed in Whitburn Street, High Street and Northgate, before the town’s one way system is officially opened.
Keith Jones, Shropshire Council’s senior highways engineer, said: “Work will start on August 2 to implement a one way system on Whitburn Street, which has previously been trialled.
“As this is quite a large scheme, there will be a need for road closures or partial road closures. However, the detail of these are yet to be decided. Work will also involve installing new loading and disabled bays on Whitburn Street, High Street and Northgate.
“All of this will be carried out using high quality materials such as conservation kerbs and blue brick paving.”
The scheme, which will take around 16 weeks to complete, is being carried out by Shropshire construction firm McPhillips, on behalf of Shropshire Council.
McPhillips (Wellington) Ltd recently scooped the Company of the Year 2010 accolade in the Shropshire Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.
