BRIDGNORTH residents and visitors are invited to a public meeting tonight to share their views on proposals to reduce traffic problems and improve safety on roads near the Endowed School and leisure centre.
Shropshire Council is proposing to make changes to the car parking arrangements and access to and from the school and leisure centre in the coming months, to alleviate traffic flow on Love Lane and Cliff Road, especially outside school hours.
People are urged to find out more and offer their comments on the proposals at a public consultation meeting at the centre which starts at 6pm.
Councillor Christian Lea, Shropshire Councillor for Bridgnorth East and Astley Abbotts, said: “The issue of traffic exiting from the leisure centre onto Love Lane has been a concern for Love Lane and Cliff Road residents for many years.
“I have been campaigning for a long time for action to be taken to address the traffic flow problems. Pedestrian safety has particularly concerned me and I welcome Shropshire Council’s plans to address the situation.
“I would urge local residents to attend the meeting to hear the proposals and ask any questions that they may have.”
William Parr, Shropshire Councillor for Bridgnorth East and Astley Abbotts, and Bridgnorth Endowed School governor, said: “This public consultation evening is important in sharing views on the proposals to reduce traffic problems and improve safety on roads near Bridgnorth Endowed School and leisure centre, and to listen to the public’s opinions and concerns.”
