A Bridgnorth lad will be leading the Combined Cadet Forces Band at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.
Drum Major Fred Collins and the CCF recruits were hand picked from thousands of hopefuls to play at the Cadet 150 anniversary celebrations in London.
One of eight Newport Adams’ Grammar School pupils to be visiting the palace, Major Collins will travel with the other Adams’ cadets to Portsmouth, joining with members of the band from across the UK to take part in final rehearsals.
They will then journey to London to celebrate a century and a half of the cadet force, with the centrepiece of the party focussed around a garden party at the palace.
The parade, headed up by Adams’ Drum Major Fred, will march from Horseguards down the Mall to Buckingham Palace.
