MUCH Wenlock Cricket Club set two new league records on Saturday with the highest first wicket stand and biggest margin of victory.
Wenlockâs Chris Lewis and Dave Bradley shared in the huge first wicket stand of 261 before Bradley was dismissed for 64.
And the side went on to total 414-8 off 50 overs with Lewis making a superb 207 off 114 deliveries.
They then dismissed home side Allscott in the Marstons Shropshire Premier League for a meagre 51 to run out winners by a record 363.
Wenlock professional Shailandra Senga did most of the damage by taking 7-13 off 8.1 overs, while Gavin Daniels picked up 3-37.
Club spokesman Tim Pinches said the fast-growing club were now fourth in the premier division, 15 points adrift of leaders Madeley.
Wenlock now field three Saturday sides as well as a midweek team and occasionally a Sunday line-up, and have a flourishing youth section.
The club is concentrating on raising funds for a new community pavilion, which they hope to have in use to coincide with the 2012 Olympic Games.
