BRIDGNORTH twins Tom and Ted Parker were both selected to represent the Midlands at rugby league – though coaches admit they can only tell them apart by the colour of their boots.
The 14-years-old have been on a three months elite young player development scheme run by the RFL which culminated in a match against the North East of England at Derby last Saturday.
The boys – who play the league code for local club Telford Raiders – helped the Midlands to a five tries to four victory in a thrilling, hard fought encounter.
Midlands RFL talent and coaching manager Martyn Rothwell said:”When the twins are in action it’s very difficult to tell them apart if you can’t see the numbers on their backs so we have to go by the colour of their footwear. It can be quite confusing.”
In Rugby Union the twins have also represented Shropshire at under-14 level and are in Worcester Warriors youth development group at Sixways.
The boys from Oldbury village – who were first taught rugby at Moffats School in Kinlet – attend Ellesmere College. They are pictured with coach Martyn, with Ted on the left.
