Life-saving staff praised

A former Bridgnorth pub landlord has praised staff at the town’s Northgate Medical Centre for their swift action in saving his wife’s life.

Sandi Goldsmith, 60, was visiting the centre with her elderly mother when she collapsed. Now her husband Barry, who ran the Hollyhead Inn – now the George – from 1990-2002 with his wife, has written a letter of praise to Bridgnorth doctor Stuart Wright and Sister Judy Latham.

In it he thanks them for their ‘prompt action’ which he says has given them both ‘another chance’.

‘I know you did what you are trained to do, but thanks to your prompt and expert action she suffered a lot less than might have been the case,’ he has told them.

Mr Goldsmith, 61, said that both he and his wife had been ‘seriously unwell’ and that his wife had a history of heart problems since 1996.

‘This latest scare really does once again make us realise how important our health really is, but also how very lucky we are in Bridgnorth to have people of your calibre looking after us.

‘Sandi spent two days in Telford Hospital, the second time this year and they too, were magnificent. She is home now and slowly recovering and we both aim to enjoy the time we have left together, no matter how long that will be.

‘But we will never forget the kindness and professionalism displayed by you both and your staff on March 23,’ he adds.
