A Bridgnorth Tennis Club stalwart says she is “touched and honoured” after being presented with a top national award.
Cathie Sabin received the Volunteer of the Year award from Lawn Tennis Association president Derek Howarth. Cathie, who lives in Much Wenlock, wins the award for her outstanding contribution to British tennis on a voluntary basis.
She is also president of Tennis Shropshire, was a founder member of the tennis club at the National Sports Centre at Lilleshall, is a member of Welti Tennis and Leisure at Shrewsbury and joined the Bridgnorth club in 1975.
“Tennis has always been my passion and when teaching at Idsall School, Shifnal I was instrumental in developing tennis and accessing funds for the development of all-weather floodlit courts,” said Cathie.
