A Bridgnorth star of the future is hoping to gain local support after breaking into the British College rugby team.
Daniel Kirby was selected for the national side after completing a weekend’s trials in Bristol against the best in the country. Now the 18-year-old, who attends Telford
College of Arts and Technology, is looking for sponsorship to help him continue competing against rugby’s elite.
“Playing for the British College team means I’ll be playing against teams from all over the world,” said Daniel, who also plays for Bridgnorth’s first team.
“I am now looking for sponsorship from local businesses to help with travel costs and kit.
“I was chosen out of everyone who attends college in the whole of Britain, so I’m really pleased to have been picked. It’s something I’ve worked hard to achieve.”
The teenager from Sutton Maddock had to break into West Midlands and Midlands college teams before being offered trials for the British team.
Bridgnorth Rugby Club press officer Sam Muscutt said: “We are all very pleased and proud of Dan’s achievement and know that he will go on to do very well in this new arena of rugby.”
If anyone can sponsor Daniel they are asked to call him on 07971379017.
