A Bridgnorth woman will be jetting out to Africa later this month to help children escape the poverty trap.
Hazel Beevers, aged 22, of Dunval Road, will be working in Malawi alongside her boyfriend Billy McLennan, who lives in Hampshire.
Mary’s Meals is an international project, based in Scotland, which sets up school feeding projects in communities where poverty and hunger prevent children from gaining an education.
Hazel and Billy will be flying to Nairobi and back-packing down the Kenyan coast to the Blantyre region of Malawi where they will be involved in school case studies on behalf of the charity.
“We will probably have some hands-on work to do there,” explained Hazel, who will be spending six months in Africa and flies out on January 30.
Hazel, whose ambition is to secure a full-time post with a charity, is a former Oldbury Wells School student who read psychology at Exeter University.
