Weather hits Town programme

WITH all the pre-match hype surrounding the crucial Boxing Day clash between Shifnal and Bridgnorth it was almost inevitable the weather would force the match to be postponed – and so it did.

Bridgnorth, whose last game was an away defeat to Stratford on December 12, will be hoping tomorrow’s clash at home to Causeway United will go ahead, to avoid a huge build up of fixtures come the end of the season. Town also face Studley United at home on Wednesday evening in another rearranged game.

Only three games were played over the Christmas break in the Midland Alliance League but with 15th placed Friar Lane and 16th placed Highgate both losing on Boxing Day, Town – who still occupy 17th position – will be looking take advantage of these slip ups when the fixtures pick up again in the New Year.

But Bridgnorth will have to do it with the services of Jason Pike and Luke Brown, who have both picked up suspensions. Brown faces a lengthy four game ban after a red card and a fifth caution of the season.

Town’s other fixtures are at home to Biddulph Victoria on Saturday, January 9, Malvern Town away on Saturday, January 16 and Alvechurch at home on Saturday, January 23.
