TV star to open Bylet HQ

Chiles, who is well known for hosting a number of television shows including The Apprentice  was approached because of the strong connections of several Islanders’ members with West Bromwich Albion FC. Chiles in the presenter of some of Albion’s DVDs and a season-ticket holder at the club.

He is well known for hosting a number of shows, including ‘Match of the Day 2’ and ‘The One Show’. “We have invited Adrian and will be absolutely delighted to see him,” said Bylet secretary Beryl Steadman.

Chiles will be among about 120 guests including the mayor, Councillor Mac Griffiths.

Bylet have another important date the following Sunday when Shropshire host the All England Ladies’ National Championships. The Islanders moved into their new headquarters at the start for this year’s AGM in February after their previous one was razed to the ground by arsonists in September, 2007.

The building is 20 per cent larger that the old clubhouse and includes a main bar and lounge, new kitchen and toilets and facilities for disabled people. The floor has been raised by a metre to combat the threat of flooding.

During their enforced absence from headquarters the Bylet held regular meetings at the nearby Royal British Legion club who were praised by officials for being “absolutely brilliant.”
