Now boss David Henderson says he needs to create the sales jobs to cope with the huge increase in demand. Scores of businesses – including hotels, manufacturers and quantity surveyors – have already signed up and are benefiting from a service that allows them to channel money reserved for their corporation tax bills into saving the environment.
Mr Henderson, a former associate at Savills, said: “It’s a win-win situation to be honest, as the company uses money it was going to be giving to the tax man towards combating climate change.
“Our expert team of advisers will visit the client and calculate the numbers of trees needed to start offsetting their carbon footprint and then plant and maintain them in a UK location.”
AllianceCO2, which already has a staff of four, is now looking to find another 100 field sales representatives.
“This is a great opportunity for people who may have suffered from the downturn and lost their jobs,” added David.
More than 10,000 trees are on target to be planted in AllianceC02’s first year and these can be found around school grounds, low grade farmland and steep banks.
Meanwhile 20 new jobs are being created at a new store which is opening at Bridgnorth’s former Woolworths site. The Original Factory Shop is investing more than £250,000 at the 10,220 sq ft building which opens on Tuesday July 14.
Area manager Caroline Welch said she was confident the new shop would bring some much needed ‘retail therapy’ to Bridgnorth and play a very important role in the local community.
