£71,000 for community projects

RESIDENTS in the Bridgnorth area are invited to have their say on the issues that matter to them at a meeting next week.

The first meeting of the Bridgnorth, Workfield, Alveley and Claverly Local Joint Committee will take place on Thursday (7pm) at the council chamber, Westgate.

“The meeting is open to the public, and there is a budget of £71,000 available to support community projects and address the issues raised at the meeting,” said Shropshire Council press officer Simon Alton.

“Local police officers Richard Wood and Matthew Pickens will be there to run their PACT (Partners and Communities Together) surgery as part of the meeting, answering any questions and listening to concerns that anyone may have.

“The committee, which is one of 28 set up by Shropshire Council across the county, is overseen by a panel of councillors from the councils covering the area, who vote on decisions after discussing the issues with everyone at the meeting.

“One of the items on the agenda for the first meeting is electing a chair and setting a deadline for the first round of applications for grants.  Members of the public are invited to come along and raise any issues they have and to make suggestions for speakers they would like to invite to future meetings.”
