Bridgnorth beat the ‘wobbles’

“It was a hard fought win, but nobody is getting carried away with our position in the table,” he said. “Next week’s game is as far as we are looking.”

The home side elected to bat first on a typically true wicket and recovered from 43-3 to post a challenging 214-7 from their 55 overs, with U21 county Richard Oliver unbeaten on 117.

Bridgnorth’s bowlers received excellent support from their fielders as Jono Whitney, 3-65, Andy Leather, 1-63, Sam Whitney, 1-30 and Tom Weave, 1-39, gained reward for their efforts.

In reply Bridgnorth lost both their openers cheaply but Dave Exall came in with 27, Jono Whitney 33 and Matt martin 43, all of which contained good partnerships, but each player also lost their wicket at vital stages.

Gaz Mumford settled the nerves by scoring  30, but it was Jason Francis’ 36 no out that steered the visitors to a two wicket victory with an over to spare.
