A Broseley woman has been proudly watching the rapid rise to fame of her daughter who has been entertaining millions playing the violin in an all-female electric string group.
Victoria Lyon, 25, is one of four women with Escala, who last year won a £1.5 million record deal with music mogul Simon Cowell.
Victoria’s mother, Ruth, who lives near Broseley, said this week she had always been proud of Victoria, who appeared on the ITV show ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ with the group on Tuesday, while viewers votes for variety acts were being counted.
Escala had reached the final of the popular competition – in which Cowell is one of the judges – last year.
Victoria and her colleagues have travelled throughout the world since finding fame last year and only recently appeared on the Oprah Winfrey USA TV chat show.
Escala now look set to rock the music charts with their self-named album ‘Escala’ which was released this week. It has already soared to the top of the Amazon and iTunes charts.
Victoria was a music scholar at both Salisbury and Wells Cathedral Schools, before joining the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
She then attended the Royal College of Music where she was leader of the symphony orchestra and became the youngest playing member of the Royal Symphony Orchestra. Her freelance work led her to join Escala.
