Warning over Bridgnorth burglaries

DETECTIVES investigating a spate of burglaries in the Bridgnorth area are appealing to people to come forward if they have any information.

Seven homes have been broken into since April 25 – an unusually high number.  Extra police patrols have been introduced and Local Policing Teams alerted. The latest incidents happened early on Wednesday in Hillside Avenue where two homes were burgled.

A home in West Castle Street was broken into  at around 2pm on May 5, but it’s thought the offenders may have been disturbed.

On April 26 and 27, three homes were broken into at Claverley. An attempted break-in happened at a home in Washbrook Road, Bridgnorth on April 25 while the occupants were.

Detective Constable Jason Whelan, the burglary officer at Bridgnorth police station, said: “It’s possible all these offences are linked and involve the same offenders.  Our enquiries are continuing but we are anxious to hear from anyone with any information which might help us.”

He urged people to call Bridgnorth police station on 0300 333 3000, or the anonymous Crimestoppers number, 0800 555 111.

“To get seven domestic burglaries in the area in just over three weeks is well above the average and we are doing everything we can to trace the offenders.  It’s important that people get in touch if they have any details linked to these crimes.”
