New village speed limits plan

A series of measures are to be considered to enforce a 30mph speed limit through Oldbury and improve safety through the village.

The proposals were outlined to residents  on Friday by Hugh Dannatt, Shropshire County Council’s group manager for highways and transport.

They follow a review by Shirehall following a serious accident to a pedestrian, town councillor Beryl Pay.

The proposed measures include ‘pedestrians in the road ahead’ signs and plates stating ‘no footway for 530 yards’ in both directions.

There would also be a new 30mph gateway with signs and road narrowing in a more visible location on the Eardington approach.

Edge of road markings through the village would reduce the width of the road and give more space for pedestrians.

Two bend warning signs would be erected on the Eardington side of Oldbury and the second of these would indicate the Manor Farm Lane junction.

And improved junction markings are proposed at the Manor Farm Lane junction.
