Villagers urged to speak out on road safety

Concerns about the safety of the road re-emerged following recent serious injuries to town councillor Beryl Pay.

Residents say that traffic has increased on the road following the temporary closure of the B4555 Bridgnorth to Highley road at the Cankhorn. That stretch of road has now been shut for two months while Severn Trent replaces a sewer and is expected to re-open later this month.

Local district councillor Elizabeth Yeomans said this week she would be writing to the police and to Shropshire County Council about the dangers on that road and in Halfway House Lane which has been used as a diversion.

County council traffic manager Ron Buzzacott said the road was expected to reopen by next Friday.
