BRIDGNORTH and Broseley are once again celebrating gold medals in the Heart of England in Bloom competition.
And there was delight for Claverley as well, as they won a silver medal at their first attempt.
Bridgnorth – which followed up its string of successes in recent years – took its first place in the town category and also won a certificate of merit for the work on the Castle Grounds led by Chris Rawlings.
As the results were announced yesterday, mayor Councillor Brian Jones said: “We are over the moon. It has been an outstanding community effort.”
He praised the work of the new town clerk and the efforts put in by the direct labour force and said they would be working hard to maintain standards.
The hope is now for more success later this month when the national Britain in Bloom results are revealed.
Bridgnorth won the Britain in Bloom final in 2002 in the town category and were selected to represent Great Britain in Entente Floral, the European arm of the competition, winning a silver award. For Broseley it was the second year running that they won the gold medal and Broseley in Bloom chairman Gillian Pope also won the special Chairman’s Award.
